Banana grow in large bunches near the top of banana plants. The banana plant can become quite tall in a short amount of time, up to 25 feet in height in a year. The banana plant typically produces fruit 15 – 18 months after planting. After the banana plant flowers and fruits, the top portion of the plant dies and another plant sprouts up from the same roots to replace the previous banana plant. The banana flower is orange-yellow in color and forms on long drooping stalks.

Nutrition

Dried fruits retain most of the nutritional value of fresh fruits, and so are included with fresh fruit in dietary recommendations by U.S. and world health agencies. The specific nutrient content of the different dried fruits reflect their fresh counterpart and the processing method (e.g., traditional dried fruits versus sugar infused dried fruit). In general, all dried fruits provide essential nutrients and an array of health protective bioactive ingredients, making them valuable tools to both increase diet quality and help reduce the risk of chronic disease. The combination of nutritional value and enjoyable taste is the reason dried fruits have been popularly considered a healthy food for millennia. Because they are naturally resistant to spoilage, easy to store and transport and relatively low in cost, dried fruits are a convenient way to increase the number of servings of fruit in the diet (Refs: wiki)

Pears

Pears have a distinctive bell shape fruit. Some pears have knobby lobes at the base of the fruit while others are smooth at the base. The skin of the fruit ranges in color from green, yellow, red, brown, pink, or a combination of these colors. Pear flesh is white and

juicy and grainy in texture. Bartlett pears are shown in this picture.Pear trees can grow to reach a height of 45 feet. They are longer lived than apple trees and generally have less disease problems; although pear trees bloom earlier in the spring and are more susceptible to frost damage.Pear leaves are simple, finely toothed, and glossy green in color. Their shape is oval to oblong with a short pointed tip.

Nutrition

Pears are a good source of dietary fiber and a good source of vitamin C. Most of the vitamin C, as well as the dietary fiber, is contained within the skin of the fruit. Pears are less allergenic than many other fruits, and pear juice is therefore sometimes used as the first juice introduced to infants. However, caution is recommended for all fruit juice consumption by infants, as studies have suggested a link between excessive fruit juice consumption and reduced nutrient intake, as well as a tendency towards obesity. Pears are low in salicylates and benzoates, so are recommended in exclusion diets for allergy sufferers. Along with lamb and rice, pears may form part of the strictest exclusion diet for allergy sufferers. Most of the fiber is insoluble, making pears a good laxative. (Refs: wiki)

Orange

The orange is the fruit of the citrus species Citrus × sinensis in the family Rosacea. The fruit of the Citrus sinensis is called sweet orange to distinguish it from that of the Citrus aurantium, the bitter orange All citrus trees belong to the single genus Citrus and remain almost entirely interfertile. This means that there is only one super species that includes grapefruits, lemons, limes, oranges, and various other types and hybrids. As the antifertility of oranges and other citrus has produced numerous hybrids, bud unions, and cultivars, their taxonomy is fairly controversial, confusing or inconsistent. The fruit of any citrus tree is considered a hesperidium (a kind of modified berry) because it has numerousseeds, is fleshy and soft, derives from a single ovary and is covered by a rind originated by a rugged thickening of the ovary wall
